Are Worksheets appropriate in Kindergarten?
|
Please note that our school is a Healthy Active School and Nut Free. Please refrain from sending in any food related items as part of your Valentine's Day cards. Thank you so much for your cooperation and support!

The short answer is that worksheets are not developmentally appropriate for preschool-age children.

Some important reminders...
In regards to morning drop off, we kindly ask you to drop your child off at the gate and refrain from entering the yard. This can be a very busy time of the day and we are trying to avoid any unnecessary confusion. Thanks for your continued support!
If you are picking your child up at school please be advised that we will wait until your arrival before sending them to the office. Mrs. Bissonnette will call us and we will send them down asap. This is to ensure your child is always supervised and not left unattended at the office. Thanks!

Scholastic Orders
A big thank you to all of our parents who have ordered through the Scholastic program. Scholastic Canada is a wonderful program which rewards teachers and classrooms with bonus dollars to support our learning. This month, Mme B and Mrs. Shackleton were able to purchase furniture and other learning materials for their FDK classroom due to the money their classroom earned as a result of their Scholastic orders. Thanks!
Program Night
This Thursday is our annual Program Night. It starts at 7pm and ends at 8pm. Please meet your child's kindergarten teacher in their homeroom for a brief presentation. See you then!
Just some gentle reminders...PLEASE label all your child's yoga mats, clothing, blankets, lunch boxes, shoes and back packs. It can be very confusing for our little bunnies if items are not labelled. THANK YOU!
As well, we have a no toy policy in Kindergarten. If we have show and tell days, your child's teacher will let you know accordingly. Toys can easily be lost or broken and we want to avoid any unnecessary tears. Thanks so much for your cooperation in this matter.
Lastly, if there are any changes in your child's transportation or pick up arrangements, a written note needs to be sent into school or please call our administrative assistant at 831 8844. Thanks!
Our morning drop off time is 8:45am at the north side of the school next to the parking lot. Our ECE team members will be outdoors at this time waiting to greet you and your child. You can leave your child with our teachers at this time for outdoor recess.
We dismiss the children at 3:30pm everyday. We kindly ask you to come to the north gate to pick up your child. We blow the whistle at 3:20 and bring the students who are taking the bus to their buses and then allow our walkers to be dismissed to their guardians. If you are picking up other children from school, please come to the north gate first to pick up your Kindergarten child. For the safety of the children, we will walk the students through the school and bring them to the office if they are not picked up by 3:30pm. We will no longer be walking our walkers to the front of the school for pick up. Thank you so much for your cooperation and understanding in this matter.
St. Stephen School's activity fee for Kindergarten in $30.00 this year. If you are paying by cheque, please make it payable to St. Stephen Catholic School. It is greatly appreciated if this can come in with your child at your earliest convenience.
In Kindergarten, this money is used to offset the cost of our yearly field trip, crafts, special performances, and special events. Thank you so much for your generosity and cooperation.
Welcome!
Welcome to the FDK program at St. Stephen school. We are a full day, Catholic play-based kindergarten program. Our founding principles are based on RESPECT, the GOSPEL VALUES and LEARNING THROUGH PLAY.
